Interview Questions
On the 29/01/2013 I had a media studies lesson. In this lesson we were taught about different ways to conduct an interview and what you need to consider when making the questions. In the lesson I also learnt that when making the questions I need to think about what the audience would want to here, what is the purpose of the question, to consider the genre and the format for example how I will set out the question in the magazines.
After careful consideration here are the questions that I have come up with:
1.       What inspired you to become a rapper?
2.       What artists do you look up the most and why?
3.       What are the meanings behind your songs?
4.       What should we expect from your newest mixtape?
5.       What do you feel has been your biggest achievement so far in terms of your life?
6.       What makes you different from other artists?
7.       Where can we find your music?
8.       What do you like to do with your spare time?
9.       How far do you want to go as a rapper in terms of your music career?
10.   Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Here is my first shot list, showing what shots I have intially planned to put into my magazine.
I looked at different rap magazines and looked at what was conventional in the magazines. From here I have taken out little bits of the magazine and included it into mine.

Here is a small review of my flatplan
small review on flatplan by malachicurrie on GoAnimate

Animation Software - Powered by GoAnimate.

Here is the evaluation of the of my Flat plan. My Flat plan was evaluated by chandika. She also feels that the colour scheme changed.
She ay i need to icluded the images that I would like to include. Finally I need to include 2 or 3 fonts.

In today photography lesson (23/1/2013) I learnt about how important the position of the picture is. Also I leant that if the shot is a close up then the position of the person’s eyes are very important as it show the feeling and soul of the person.

If the person has a darker tone skin then more lighting will be needed. Iso is what the camera uses to control the lighting going into the shot. If the ISO is high (for example 1000) the image will be unclear where as if the ISO is low (for example 200) then the image will be clear.

Also if the camera is set as manual then the photographer has more control over the image.

Here is my double page spread. The double page spread was tricky, this was because there were many different types of hip-hop/rap double page spread covers. The idea I chose was not as complex as other double page spread covers but it was still very effective.

I apologize about the pen lines that have come though the page. I have also stuck with the colour scheme of yellow throughout the flat plan, but when I actually make the magazine I am going to change the colour scheme of the magazine to Red instead of yellow. This is because I think red is a more effective colour, also I feel that the colour red fits in well with my genre as most rappers want to be seen as dangerous and the colour red help this to be achieved.

Here is the flat plan for my contents page. There was not a lot information for the contents page in my genre (rap/hip-hop) so I had to make up little bits of the contents page and try to put them altogether.

There are no Images on the contents page yet this is because I have still not decided what I want to do for the images. As soon as I am able to I will share the pictures that I have decided to include in my magazine.

I have created a flat plan. For the flat plan I was undecided about if I should choose the colour red or yellow for my magazine. After completing my flat plan in the colour yellow I then decided that I would use the colour red to go with my magazine.

Here is the front cover of my flat plan I have looked at all of my research and this is what was created. As most rap/hip hop magazines do not have a lot of text on the front cover I decided to do the same thing. So now here as you can see my front cover has enough information but it isn’t too much. Also I have chosen one big image to go on the front of the magazine as this is conventional on the front covers of magazines.

I've undertaken quite a bit of research into the conventions of hip-hop magazines. From this research I have noticed that most of the covers have used a close up shot of the face of the artist on the front. This shows the facial expression of the artist and the eye contact makes it feel very intimate. I will attempt to do this in my own magazine cover too!

I was not sure about what my double page spread should look like.
Iwas cinfuseed on the structure of the page.
As i was so confused I decided to look online at some hip hop magazines double page spread here is what i found:

Both of thess magazine are quite similar in terms of the way the page has been layed out. There is a big image on the left page and there is a big title at the top on the right of the page. And at the bottom of the right page there is a lot of text in big columns. Also there is a big letter to start of the text. The text is black on a white background.

RESEARCH
For my flatplan I didnt know how much pages needed to include into my contents page.

From looking at all of the hip hop magazine's contents pages I knew that the pages in my magazine needed to go up to at least 100 pages.
So now when I create my flat plan know i need to include around 100 pages.

Here is an interview were a rapper named 'souja boy' talks about the rap industry. this gave a bit more of an incite about the genre I chose.
Today I had a lesson with miss Silva and I learnt about how to make a magazine look professional.
Here is an interview with Eminem about rap and how it has changed.
This video helps me to understand a little bit more about the rap industry.

Here is my focus group. We will be discussing what should be included in a hip hop magazine. We will be looking at 'LiVE' magazine and discussing what improvements could be made. This will help me when i'm making magazine.
Here is my interview

This interview is about how the music industry has changed over a period of time. It also talks about what should be in a magazine. Also the people of the younger generation get to express their feeling about the music industry.

2pac is Rap artist, he has influences the whole of the rap origin as he is a very popular  rap artist. 2pac had the image the rappers in these times try to portray. 2pac image was seen as ’hard’ and  ‘serious’ which is how rap is seen.  Even though 2pac died in 1996 he is still remembered and respected now in 2013.  This  shows that he has a major influence in the rap has changed.  2pac’s has a song called ‘changes’ this song talks about things that should be changed within the world.

Watch Drake talk about his life and music on this link. It shows you how Hip Hop and R&B artists do have a softer side that is not usually revealed like himself. This is also something I will think about when doing the image of my magazine.

Drizzy Drake

Aubrey Drake Graham is one of the most popular pop, R&b, Hip Hop artist and why is this, it is because Drake writes lyrics that people can relate to for example ‘Take a shot for me’ a song that featured in his album, ‘Take Care’ which sold 659,190 copies in the first week. He is also very famous for his song ‘The Motto’ which is where the phrase YOLO comes from meaning You Only Live Once. This saying has been seen all over web.2.0 featuring on Tumblr, Twitter and even the idea of his saying has been used in Tulisa’s song ‘Young’. YOLO has even been making an appearance on clothing for example t-shirt, snapbacks and bags. Drake is one of the artists that I might feature in my magazine as he is a good representation of Rap/Pop.

Here is is the double page spread of the first 'Live' magazine.
Altogether on here there is about 10 images.
A the top left hand corner of the double page spread there is an editors note which takes up half a page.
From the front cover and contents page there has been a change in colour of the the la out but the font of the writing is exactly the same.

This is the contents page to the first 'Live' magzine I uploaded
This contents page realy stood out to me as there are 6 picture including the picture the same artist that was on the front cover. Also the magazine has stuck to the same colour scheme of the front cover, this helps to make the magazine look professional.

This magazine called' Live' is the type of magazine that I would like to create.
The front cover has a picture straight though the middle but the image is tilted to the right.
The background is all one colour makeing it easier for us to see the image.
The magazine has small sub tiltes down the bottom of the left side to show us what will be on the inside of this magazine.
Alsko apart from black and white the magazine only uses one other colour meaning it is simple to look at.
